Description of the association
Communicators in Business Ireland, CIBI, is the professional body for corporate communicators in Ireland. Membership is open to anyone engaged in the management, editing or production of corporate communications media. Members are drawn from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Affiliated to the British Association of Communicators in Business, CIBI was re-activated in Ireland six years ago. It has close ties with its sister organisation in Britain and is treated as a region of the CiB for administrative purposes. CIBI has developed its contacts with its European counterparts through the Federation of European Industrial Editors (FEIEA). It is now a full member of FEIEA.

Our main objectives
CIBI's aims are to:
• convince organisations of the importance of effective communication
• improve standards of corporate communications
• promote the regular exchange of ideas and experience between members
• develop members' management and vocational skills
• provide education and training in all aspects of corporate communications

Our services
The annual awards competition
The annual awards competition seeks, in part, to achieve some of the aims described. It is organised by CIBI in association with Irish Independent Newspapers Ltd. with the prizes sponsored by Waterford Wedgwood Ltd. This awards scheme focuses on printed publications but includes a category for the best intranet site.

There are six competition categories:
• best staff journal
• best non-staff journal
• best writer
• best design
• best intranet site
